Hi! 👋 I'm Jhey(pronounced "J"). And I make awesome things for awesome people!
I'm a web developer with ~10 years of experience. I've been fortunate to work with and for names such as Nike, Egghead, NearForm, Uber, Eurostar, Barclaycard, ATG, O2, and M&C Saatchi. I run Shift Bear Ltd.
Often referred to as a "Polyglot", I'm comfortable with a variety of tools. Typically I'll be digging in with React, architecting CSS in and out of JavaScript, or orchestrating slick animations with GreenSock.
Whatever the tools used, I thrive on bringing ideas to life. I take pride in crafting innovative solutions with polished user experiences. This whilst possessing a keen eye for design, accessibility, performance, and well-structured code.
I'm a CodePen advocate and share attention-catching demos over on Twitter. Many of which feature in various newsletters/publications. I'll often stream the creation process over on Twitch. I'm also an egghead.io instructor where I create bite-sized lessons on web development tricks and tips.
I love to write and have written for various publications. I'm an author for CSS Tricks, Smashing Magazine, and SitePoint. I published an ebook on CSS animation named "Move Things with CSS". I write a monthly sporadic newsletter. It's a monthly digest of what I've been up to, what I've made, and awesome things I've seen. Sign up!
Away from the keyboard in my "spare" time I could be doing any number of things. I'm pretty into calisthenics and functional exercise. Here's a clip of me playing on my bar. I occasionally post to Instagram. along with pictures of the cats(Ronnie && Reggie).
During the season, you're likely to find me on a soccer(pronounced "football") pitch at the weekends. If I'm lucky, I grab a few moments to play Nintendo or stream PC games! (Hit me up for my friend code) And lastly, I enjoy a good book(even if it's digital). Currently reading "BADASS" by Kathy Sierra.
